Shoot Prep

  • Be vocal. Tell me your expectations. Let me know your goals and what type of look you want to capture.

  • Be well rested for your shoot.

  • Drink lots of water days prior to your shoot. This helps your skin and reduces under eye bags.

  • Your skin and eyes do not look best after alcohol and drug use. Try to abstain prior to your shoot day.

  • Practice expressions and poses in the mirror prior to your shoot. Subtle expressions go a long way.

Wardrobe

  • Backup options are encouraged. Bring two to three options for each purchased look.

  • Bring items that you love and are comfortable.

  • Clothing should look new or close to new and be free of pilling.

  • Clothing needs to be clean and neatly pressed. Excessive wrinkles are no good.

  • Three t-shirts in three different colors is not considered three options. Be mindful of your characters.

  • Layering your clothing can help give you great style.

  • Basic black, white, and grey t-shirts are ideal for layering.

  • Bring a variety of styles. Think about what a specific character would wear.

  • Avoid logos and branding. A small logo can be removed in retouching if necessary.

  • Solid colors are great. Multiple items in black is discouraged.

  • Earth tone and jewel tone colors are great for headshots.

  • Avoid busy patterns and bold stripes if you’re shooting just one look.

  • Avoid glitter, rhinestones, and sequins.

  • Red can be jarring. Shades of burgundy, crimson, and maroon are ideal.

  • Sport coats, suit jackets, and blazers give a professional look.

  • Necklines change everything, especially in a closeup. Bring options.

  • Turtle necks might not be flattering on camera. Bring backup options if you’re considering a turtle neck.

  • Eyeglasses work best without lenses. A variety of frames without lenses are available in studio.

Hair and Makeup

  • Makeup needs to be clean and natural.

  • Heavy makeup does not compliment everyday wardrobe looks.

  • Men should bring lip balm to the shoot. Chapped lips can be difficult to retouch.

  • Avoid over-styling your hair.

  • Jewelry can be distracting. Opt for small earrings and avoid necklaces.
